Fortunately for me, working at Three (Hutchison 3G Whampoa) came with its benefits. Great colleagues, awesome projects to work on, friends and family benefits (not to mention the free SIM card meaning I didn’t need to pay a phone bill during my time there) but also plenty of talent opportunities.
When I was approached to try my hand at writing for Three’s sister telco SMARTY, I jumped at the chance. I had been writing for my personal blog for 2 years at this point and although I had plenty of experience copywriting for retail collateral and advertising, I was yet to try my hand at the more relaxed art of blog writing for a business.
SMARTY kindly started me off with something I was very familiar with, promotional writing. A blog post to discuss how consumers of their SIM product could benefit from their new Refer-a-Friend scheme. The promotion was simple, the more friends you recommended to SMARTY, the more money you would get of your monthly tariff.
